A former Fortune 500 (top 50) Chief Information Officer (CIO) for GPC International, Omnicom Group – https://www.omnicomgroup.com. Mr. Heighington has been an international stakeholder in information technology for the past 25 years.  In addition to being a certified project manager and IT architect Rob has a highly successful track record in executive leadership building enterprise-wide distributed and highly secure data warehousing systems. Rob studied computer technology at Centennial College in Toronto working his way up from programmer to becoming the youngest Fortune 500 Chief Information Officer in Y2000.

Hired to integrate financial and HR technologies from eleven disparate (entirely different) ATCO companies. Worked hand in hand with each company’s SMEs (subject matter experts) and ATCO management

Bell Canada

Associate Director – Bell Technology in the West. With offices in Calgary and Vancouver Mr. Heighington lead a team of 15 project managers and 15 business analysts. He worked hand in hand with other Bell Directors (including in Ontario) and his fellow leadership team (other Associate Directors). Our biggest challenge was team moral followed closely by prioritising over 100 projects. Given his success when the Western offices were disbanded Rob was offered a senior role in Calgary

Government of Alberta

Hired by the Alberta government Ministry of Advanced Education to facilitate a province-wide database to report on application and enrolment of post graduate studies. Role required ongoing liaison with all Alberta Colleges and Universities. As the project was delivered on time and under budget the team received the Premier’s Silver award of merit

GPC International

As Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) responsible for integrating technologies between parent (Omnicom) and acquired companies. Liaison with all regions including Canada, the U.S and European Union offices. Management of all senior IT Managers. Providing IT expertise to senior leaders in government and private sector including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Diplomats and Managing Partners

AECL

Development and deployment of enterprise-wide forensic supply chain tracking and automated purchase order system (e.g. tracking reactor materials from mine to manufacturer to reactor). Given ‘Secret’ level clearance by CSIS. Also, emergency preparedness training for work near Chalk River reactor required
